Tackling Unemployment in the NorthEast

Tackling Unemployment in the NorthEast

Unemployment remains a pressing challenge in the NorthEast, especially for students who have passed their Class 10 or 12 exams but lack the skills required for meaningful employment. To combat this issue, we’ve partnered with SAATHIYA (a Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiative) to implement the Integrated Career Development Program (ICDP) in Changlang district. This program equips underprivileged youth with both short-term skill training and long-term career support, setting them on the path to a sustainable future.

What is ICDP?

The Integrated Career Development Program (ICDP), in partnership with SAATHIYA, offers aspiring youth a unique combination of short-term skill training and long-term career development. This comprehensive program provides the tools necessary for underprivileged youth to build rewarding careers, especially in the hospitality industry.

Participants in ICDP receive:

  • Industry-relevant training

  • On-the-job learning opportunities in top hotels

  • Personalized career support for long-term growth

What is ICDP?

How We Facilitate the Program

At the India Foundation for Education Transformation (IFET), our primary role is to identify and select enthusiastic and deserving young adults who are eager to make a mark in the hospitality industry. We ensure these candidates are matched with opportunities that align with their aspirations and skills.

In June 2024, we proudly sent our first batch of six young women, all of whom have successfully completed their senior secondary education. They are now gaining real-world experience through on-the-job training at Marriott International Hotels. Upon completion, these young women will secure full-time positions as associates, paving the way for bright futures.

In August 2024, we sent an additional eight students as part of the second batch. These individuals are currently undergoing intensive theoretical training, and they too will begin on-the-job training soon.
